CoVid-19 Precautions

As a reminder, in order to keep the people and space of Smiling Star Speech & Language as safe as possible for you and your children, our therapists will be following the following guidelines and we ask the same from you. * Regardless of vaccination status, we kindly ask that you come to your child’s speech session masked, and stay masked while in the office. *

We diligently sanitize all common-area surfaces and toys between each session. A HEPA air-purifier is used in the treatment room, and all our therapists use the recommended PPE to ensure the safety of your children. We follow CDC guidelines guidelines for quarantining after CoVid-19 exposures, and state guidelines for travel restrictions.

  1. If you have traveled to, will be returning from or have anyone currently visiting you from one of these states on Chicago's Travel Quarantine list, we kindly ask that you cancel your child's treatment sessions for the 14-days following your return. The states that are currently under Chicago's Emergency Travel Order include: (Emergency Travel Order)

  2. Has anyone in your household been within 6-feet for more than 15-minutes with anyone that has been diagnosed with CoVid-19?

  3. Has anyone in your household received a positive-CoVid test for the active virus in the past 10-days?

  4. Does anyone in your household have any of the following symptoms that cannot be attributed to any other condition?

  • fever or chills

  • cough

  • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • fatigue

  • muscle or body aches

  • headache

  • recent onset of loss of taste or smell

  • sore throat

  • congestion

  • nausea or vomiting

  • diarrhea

If you answered 'yes' to any of the questions 2-4, we ask that you refrain from coming to your scheduled appointment until at least 10-days have passed since the onset of symptoms and until the person affected is at least 24- hours fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications. For any canceled sessions, we are available to provide your child with teletherapy sessions during those weeks to avoid any disruption to therapeutic progress.

Please remember that only one adult is requested to bring your child to therapy. We prefer that siblings stay at home. If this is not possible, we are happy to come out to your car and bring your child in for therapy so that you may wait in the car with any siblings. Just arrange this with your child's therapist so that she can share her mobile number with you to text.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation in ensuring the health and safety of our therapists and clients! We want to continue to provide in-person services to you and your families as long as the current health climate allows, but are prepared to switch to telehealth options at any time.
