I don't know if you remember my daughter, LG, that you helped many years ago, but I came across your Facebook page and thought you might like an update. L came to you with an expressive language delay and some auditory processing issues. I believe she was in kindergarten or first grade. She is going to be 21 next month! With your help she made such amazing progress and I doubt that anyone would even believe the problems she had when you first started working with her.
I remember being in tears when the early childhood evaluators told me that she would most likely need special education and would not be able to learn a foreign language. Well, with your help L proved them all wrong.
L completed her K-12 education in the Catholic school system and attended High School where she took Mandarin as her language all four years. She excelled in science and art and was always on the A or B honor roll. She currently is in college taking classes that she will transfer after another year to another University where she will be majoring in forensic biochemistry and maybe minoring in art just for fun.
She is amazing young lady and I am very thankful for all the help you gave to her which set her on this successful path.

Micaela is creative and practical in her approach to teaching speech. She is very knowledgeable and so great with kids. She customizes each session to the interest of my daughter which makes the lessons more fun. Using creative games and fun tools like cheerios and marshmallows to help her put her tongue in the right position, my daughter said Miss Micaela "does things that are fun, and is not boring when we do it. My favorite part is doing games.”
I decided to look for a speech therapist for my 3.5 year old son when we found out from his teachers that he never spoke at school. We took him get an evaluation done at a large local speech therapy center, but my son literally didn’t say a single word for the entire session. I found Smiling Star and made an evaluation appointment with Miss Micaela. My son was very shy at first, as expected, but very quickly became comfortable because of how awesome Miss Micaela was with him! The initial assessment revealed that he had many speech deficits, and a major lack of confidence with speaking, which made it even worse.
We signed up for weekly sessions with Miss Micaela and in less than 4 months he was caught up to where he should be as far as speech, and had become so much more confident in speaking at school. He also LOVED going to speech therapy. On non-therapy days he would ask to go. And on therapy days he would ask to go back again after dinner. We are so thankful to have found Smiling Star and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a speech therapist!
Karen is an amazing therapist. She has brought a wealth of knowledge & understanding to the challenges we were facing with our daughter’s speech. Since working with her, we have seen such great progress – and Karen is her #1 cheerleader, going out of her way to provide support & suggestions. Our daughter jumps out of bed on the days she gets to see Ms. Karen. We feel so lucky to be working with her – could not recommend more!
We cannot say enough good things about Smiling Star Speech and Language. Micaela is wonderful with my son and we have seen great progress in his speech since he began with her. The office is a warm and friendly environment and the therapists are very knowledgeable and creative in implementing the speech therapy. I get a verbal progress report at the end of each session and Micaela works with me to find ways I can reinforce the speech work at home

Smiling Star was the perfect choice for our son. Micaela is caring and patient in helping him (and me) to improve the quality and quantity of his speech. My son is usually shy around people, which only makes speech therapy more challenging. Micaela has utilized different approaches, games, and exercises with him to really bring him out of his shell. He actually enjoys his therapy sessions and has improved greatly. Even his teachers have remarked on his improvement and confidence.

Micaela is amazing!!!!!! My son was 3 years old and not speaking! I started to notice there was a problem when he was 18 months old and that's when I started my search to get help. I took him to many many places and did not see any improvement. It was very frustrating. Finally I found Smiling Stars!!! Micaela did her magic and within the first week I noticed him saying a few words!!! I could not believe it!!! Micaela has a special way of connecting with children and I am so happy we found her!!!! Now the only problem is.....I can't get him to stop talking!!! My son is now 6 and his speech is fantastic. His preschool teachers said they have never seen someone make that much improvement in such a short time!!!
Smiling Star Speech & Language is the place to go. Mrs. Fisher was so professional and patient with my two children. I was so glad that I found her. The children enjoyed seeing her. The sessions were full of fun filled educational activity, not sterile like other places we had been to. After the first meeting I knew I had made the right choose. She listened to me, asked questions and got to know the kids. Her energy, enthusiasm, and caring nature really shows.

My son was diagnosed with a sensory processing disorder and completed the Interactive Metronome program with Micaela. She was truly fabulous and changed my son's life! The frustration and tantrums that we were seeing so often are now gone. He is also able to identify when he is having a "sensory moment" and employ the techniques that Micaela recommended for self regulation. Thank you thank you!
