Speech-Language Delay

Speech is another way of describing articulation or the sounds we put together to form words. Speech is also used to describe voice quality and fluency, which is commonly referred to as stuttering.

Language refers to the words and combinations of words, or vocabulary, that we use to communicate our thoughts. Receptive Language refers to the skills we use to understand what others are saying to us. Expressive Language refers to the words we use to express ourselves to others verbally or non-verbally (e.g. Sign Language, gestures)

Anything that impacts our speech and/or language production can negatively affect our ability to communicate with others and participate in the world around us.
